Former Conquistador Rod Woodson Changes Schools, Stays in Alabama

August 21, 2010

FLORENCE -- Former University of Alabama defensive back Rod Woodson (5-11, 199, soph.) has joined the University of North Alabama Lions for the 2010 football season. A SuperPrep All-America selection out of Olive Branch, Woodson originally signed with the University of Alabama. He played for the Crimson Tide last season as a freshman as the Tide claimed the BCS National Championship.

Woodson and UA head coach Nick Saban announced the former Conquistador’s departure this summer. At UNA, Woodson joins former SEC head coach Terry Bowden, who previously led Auburn to an undefeated season.

Bowden is starting his second season at North Alabama. Coming off an 11-2 season that ended with a loss to Carson Newman in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs, the Lions are ranked No. 3 in the Division II preseason poll.
