OBHS Bowling Team Error Results in Disqualification

At a time when the squad expected to be preparing for this weekend’s state tournament, members of the Olive Branch High School bowling team are instead looking to next year.

Olive Branch qualified for state as the No. 1 overall seed, but was disqualified after state officials determined the team used two academically ineligible players in the regional event in Tupelo.

"Our coach caught the error and self-reported our mistake,” explained principal Kyle Brigance. “(Coach) David Lemay deserves the credit for being a very honest individual.”

Olive Branch won its region by defeating two-time defending state champion Tupelo, 3-2, in a baker system roll-off. Also, OBHS rolled a total of 3963 for the four-game qualifier, recording the highest score in the state this year.
