NWCC Golf Team Places Sixth at East Central Invitational

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Ranger golf team placed sixth at the East Central Invitational on Feb. 20-21 at Forest (Miss.) Country Club in Forest Northwest finished with a two-day score of 625 (308-317) to place 38 strokes behind champion Gulf Coast which shot a 587 (295-292). Northeast placed second with a 596 (298-298), followed by Copiah-Lincoln 's 611 (307-304) and East Central’s 614 (309-305). Freshman Ryan Williams of Southaven led the Rangers and tied for 17th place at the event with a score of 11-over par 153 (75-78). Sophomore Grant Goforth of Batesville tied for 20th with a score of 154 (76-78). Northwest freshman Garrett Tidwell of Southaven tied for 34th place with a 160 (80-80), followed by freshman Richard Howell of Nesbit who finished 36th by shooting a 161 (75-86). Ranger freshman Hewston Vancil of Senatobia carded a 174 (82-92) which tied him for the 55th spot, while freshman Nathan Pawlak of Stuart, Fla., turned in a 175 (87-88) and freshman Robert Hixson of Southaven tied for 62nd with a 179 (95-84). The Rangers head to Wesson March 8-9 to compete in the Copiah-Lincoln Invitational. |
