Tigers Officially Report to Fall Camp

August 8, 2010

MEMPHIS - Just under a month remains until Memphis opens its 2010 schedule at

Mississippi State on Sept. 4, and on Sunday the Tigers officially reported to camp.

A majority of the newcomers on the team are already acclimated to Memphis and the campus, though, as nearly all players reporting to camp were in one or both of the summer sessions of school.  The squad had physicals today at the Campbell Clinic and also had to attend meetings with compliance and other university and athletic

department staff.

Coach Larry Porter spoke with the media prior to the team meeting and talked about the energy surrounding the program heading into camp.

"I think there is a lot of enthusiasm and excitement for this upcoming fall," said Porter.  "What I want to do is make sure that we develop a product over the course of fall camp to put on the field and put our fans in the position to continue to be excited and raise their level of enthusiasm."

The Tigers will have their first official practice Monday afternoon at the Murphy Athletic Complex.  The squad will have five "acclimation" practices before holding its first two-a-day session on Saturday.  The team will alternate between single and double sessions beginning with the second week of practice.

Football FanFest is set for Aug. 22 from 3-5 p.m., on the U of M campus.  The outdoor activities such as the bounce centers and face-painting will take place on Memorial Field outside of the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, which is located on Zach Curlin Blvd.  The autograph session will be held in the main gym of the Fieldhouse.
