Bulldogs Finish Split-Squad Work; Set for Media Day on Saturday

August 6, 2010

STARKVILLE – For the second and final time this week, Mississippi State’s 2010 football team worked in a pair of split-squad practices here on Friday. Approximately half the team worked a late afternoon practice, while the other group hit the fields immediately after.

Most of the experienced players along with all newcomers participated in the first workout, while the second practice consisted mainly of players looking to earn more playing time.

The team was joined by a special guest in attendance at Friday's practices, as Melvin Steed attended both sessions. Steed is a lifelong Bulldog fan and suffering from a rare brain disease that has left him unable to walk. Following the first practice of the day,

Steed was invited by head coach Dan Mullen to address the team and spoke about cherishing each moment of life. After each practice, members of the team took time to speak with the Corinth native.

Mullen will hold his preseason press conference Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the event for free on Maroon to the Max by simply visiting www.mstateathletics.com/m2mlive and clicking on the video icon at start time. No registration is required. The press conference will also be archived on Maroon to the Max for later viewing.

The Bulldogs return to the practice field tomorrow as they move camp to South Farm for the next week of workouts. Beginning with tomorrow’s practice, all practices are closed to the public.
