Mullen Pleased With “Smart” Practice on Day 2

August 5, 2010

STARKVILLE – With cloudy skies making for an unseasonably pleasant evening here on Thursday night, head football coach Dan Mullen walked away from his team’s first full-squad practice pleased with what he saw.

“We worked smart today,” Mullen said. “We’re out here learning how to practice. When we get the pads on we’ll start to see who can play, but right now the guys are just getting used to the tempo and what we expect from them.”

The Bulldogs began fall practice on Tuesday with a pair of split-squad workouts and took yesterday off as many players completed summer session exams. On Friday the team will conduct another pair of split-squad workouts before moving practice across campus and beginning training camp on Saturday.

On Thursday, a large crowd took advantage of the cooler temperatures and late start time at the third of five practices that will be open to the public. Friday’s practices are both open and are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
