Dogs Work Twice, Move to Palmeiro Center for Evening Work

August 13, 2010

STARKVILLE – With a heavy line of thundershowers moving through the area, head coach Dan Mullen brought his team into the climate-controlled environs of the Palmeiro Center here on Friday afternoon.

But just because the team wasn’t outside doesn’t mean the work wasn’t heated.

“Today should be one of the toughest days of the year for us,” Mullen said after the morning practice. “Everyone’s tired, everyone should be tired. But if we can fight through it and improve, we’ve got a chance to be a pretty good team.”

On the third day of two-a-day practices, the grueling morning workout again featured work on first-down situations. In the evening, work focused on the passing game with a healthy dose of special teams work.

The Bulldogs will practice only once on Saturday afternoon before taking Sunday off. Two-a-days conclude on Monday, and classes begin next Wednesday. Mississippi State kicks off the 2010 campaign in Davis Wade Stadium on Sept. 4 against Memphis at 6 p.m.
