LaGrange, GA (August 13, 2010)…Former Austin Peay State golfer Grant Leaver (Centerville, TN) fired a seven-under par 64 in the Friday’s second round of the Chattahoochee Hospice Classic at Overlook Golf Links and will take a one stroke lead into Saturday’s third round.

Leaver, who finished runner-up last week in Tunica, started the second round T-7 after opening with a four-under par 67 on Thursday. Leaver started his second round off on a hot streak, making six birdies over his opening nine holes to go out in six-under par 30. 

He made the turn and carded two more birdies, a bogey and six pars for an inward nine of 34 and second round total of 11-under par 131.

Former Georgia golfer David Miller (Daphne, AL) will begin the third round trailing Leaver by a stroke after he posted a two day total of 10-under par 132. Miller opened with a five-under par 66 on Thursday and was able to match that score on Friday to vault from a tie for second to start the day to second by himself at the end of the day.

Brent Witcher (Atlanta), Casey Crain (La Combe, LA), Greg Huxman (Pinecrest, FL) and Andrew Lanahan (Jacksonville, FL) will all begin the third round trailing Leaver by two strokes after they finished two rounds at nine-under par 133.

Overlook Golf Links owner Grant Cagle (LaGrange) opened with a three-under par 68 on Thursday but a disappointing two-over par 73 Friday left him at one-under par 141. He leads the local players in the Chattahoochee Hospice Classic. 

Other local players include LaGrange’s Taylor Hall (even par 142), LaGrange’s Roderick Short (eleven over par 153) and West Point’s Terry Daniels (nineteen over par 161). 

The cutline fell at even par 142, with 79 golfers making it to the weekend portion of the event. Round three will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning, with the leaders teeing off number one at 9:40.

The total purse for The Chattahoochee Hospice Classic is $200,000, with $30,000 going to the winner.
