The March session of Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Reading Roundtable will be held Tuesday, March 30, at 2 p.m., in the R.C. Pugh Library on the Senatobia campus.

Northwest director of Learning Resources Margaret Rogers will lead this month’s discussion, which features, “People of the Book,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks.

A 600-year-old Jewish prayer book has just fallen into the hands of Australian book curator Hannah Heath. As she searches for the handwritten manuscript’s origin, readers will visit Vienna in 1894, Venice in 1609, Barcelona in 1492 and Seville in 1480.

The purpose of the program is to provide a forum for senior adults to read and discuss a variety of books during the course of each semester. Discussions are led by Northwest library faculty, and meetings are held on the third or fourth Tuesday of each month.

All participants are required to fill out a registration form available at the library. Those who wish to receive copies of the books being discussed will be asked to pay $5 for each book provided by Northwest. This payment can be attached to the registration form.

If you wish to participate but already own the book or want to get it from another source, you will need to register, but you will not need to pay the $5 fee per book. If you wish to share the book with someone else, you may split the cost of the book. Books will be in limited supply, so those who register early will be assured of getting copies of the books.

Sycamore Bank has donated the funds for the program.
