The upcoming Northwest Mississippi Community College art exhibition “Class of 2008 Reunion Exhibition” features work from previous Northwest Art students. The exhibition will run Sept. 1-30 at the Northwest Art Gallery on the Senatobia campus. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2. According to Lawayne House, chair of the art department, Laura Harthcock of Sentobia, Bryan Horn of Horn Lake, Savannah Hood of Batesville, Amanda Langston Oakland, A.J. Pappus and Eli Brumley, both of Olive Branch, are former students who are returning to Northwest to exhibit works which show their growth and artistic progress two years after leaving the college. “These students were active participants in the Les Fauves Art Club were dedicated to the learning of their craft and have won awards from their colleges, Delta State and the University of Memphis,” said House. “We are pleased to have had the opportunity to instill in these students the drive and tenacity it takes to be an artist. This exhibition will allow us to see their growth over the past two years,” said House. “They are definitely on their way to professional careers. It makes us proud to know we were their instructors.” Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. There is no admission charge. The Fine Arts division offers classes in the fundamentals of drawing, painting, ceramics, art history and computer graphics for individuals seeking opportunities for a career in the arts or for personal enrichment.
