Jr. StreetKings Finals Set For This Saturday?>
Fall season ends at Hernando facility with championship matchup
August 31, 2010
SOUTHAVEN --- If you're looking for some youthful hockey excitement this weekend, check out the finals of the Jr. StreetKings fall league. The fall league will wrap up its season Saturday morning with the championship contest at the Hernando Civic Center covered rink facility off Robinson Gin Road in Hernando. Game time is at 10 a.m. League participants and their families are invited to a cookout at the conclusion of the game. The championship game will mark the end of the seventh season of the Jr. StreetKings youth roller hockey program, held each year in Hernando under the umbrella of Hernando Youth Sports. The Jr. StreetKings fall league has been underway weekly since July 26 and is one of two in-line hockey leagues the program supports. Another league held in the spring is a camp for youngsters wanting to learn more about in-line skating and hockey skills. Youngsters age five-to-14 from the Mid-South area take part in the program, giving them skating and hockey skills, while also teaching teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun, recreational setting.
