The Governor has vetoed Senate Bill 2688 as expected.  This is the bill which restores $79 million to the 2010 fiscal year budget.  K – 12 would receive $37.6 million in this bill.

The Governor supposedly has found an additional $19 million that he has promised to add to the other bill that is in conference.  However, it is our understanding from various sources that K – 12 would only receive $30 million in that bill.

It would be in the best interest of the K – 12 community if the Senate would override the Governor’s veto.  Otherwise we stand to lose at least $7 million. 

The override vote could come as early as tomorrow.  The only way that we can win this fight is through the calls that your Senators get from you, your teachers, your parents and your community leaders.
