Reader Asks Legislators to Fund Education

(The following letter was sent to State Representative Wanda Jennings (R., Southaven)from DeSoto County resident Robert R. Denton.

“I am asking that you consider sending a similar message on behalf of our school district and the OUR children,” Denton said. “Our school district requires 60 percent of their budget to be funded by the state.  The continual cutting of this budget is leading to very deep cuts in all areas related to educating our children..  This must stop!  We must restore the funding of education and in particular to K-12.

“Please urge every Senator and Representative to support fully funding the education of our future! AND assure them that we will keep their support or lack of thereof, in mind during future elections!”

Thanks

Randy Denton

Representative Jennings

As a fellow resident of DeSoto County, you are well aware of our growth and the needs of our families. As our district grows, there is nothing more important than educating our children.  I urge you to strongly support the educating of our children by initiating and strongly supporting legislation that would require the state to fully fund education. You should pay very close attention to all funding for K-12 education.

This funding and more of it is needed immediately!  As an educator and strong supporter of DeSoto County schools, I implore you stand up for education.  Almost 60 percent of our funding comes from the state.  We must have your support!  SAVE OUR JOBS AND THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN!

Sincerely

Robert R. Denton
