Where Does Ole Miss Go From Here?

Where does Ole Miss go from here on a new mascot?

We have been here before and no new mascot has ever been chosen yet

What Happens Now?

Relax.

Has anyone noticed that Ole Miss has yet to choose a new mascot?  It's true!

In fact, has any new mascot choice even been suggested by official channels?

 No.

We have been here before.  Don't you remember back in the late 90's when the University wanted to make Colonel Reb "younger" and they gave us a botoxed and face-lifted Colonel Reb?

He did not even last one football season.

Then, in 2003, the University tried to give us two choices to replace Colonel Reb.  They were hammered in internal and public polls all over the United States, including in the Commercial Appeal and the Atlanta Constitution Journal.  They never even made it onto the field.

So guess who is the official mascot at Ole Miss still?  Yep, it is the same guy as listed on page three of the 2009 Football Media Guide – Colonel Reb.

We will continue to watch to see what is going on as students, alumni and fans are allowed input into a new mascot.  After all, it is the court of public opinion that has to be won over.

Remember their ill-fated attempt this past football season to promote Hotty Toddy Man?  Booed off of the field.

Stay tuned, folks.  We have a long way to go.

Sincerely

Howie Morgan
