The Student Mascot Selection Committee has completed focus group sessions for alumni, fans, and friends - but we noticed no student members attended most of the meetings.  Instead public relations professionals hired by the University headed up each event.

The most important thing to come out of each meeting is that no one believes the University when they tell everyone that the mascot change will be the final step as unnamed members of the administration continue to purge any of the Southern character that has made up Ole Miss for over a century.

The Ramey Agency, a Mississippi based consulting and brand imaging firm, has made sure to write that into the script of the new video they have created on the Ole Miss Mascot Selection Committee website,  www.mascot.olemiss.edu.   Of course they also said that before they got rid of the Confederate flags, Colonel Reb and “Dixie with Love,” and now their new attempt to rebrand Ole Miss with a new mascot.

Be respectful of these students who have been given the unenviable public position of changing the history of Ole Miss despite the fact that 94 percent of students voted to keep Colonel Reb, 87 percent of ASB Senators voted to keep Colonel Reb, 87 percent of the members of the Ole Miss Alumni Association voted to keep Colonel Reb, and on-line polls held by the Atlanta Constitution Journal, the Clarion Ledger, and the Commercial Appeal all voted to keep Colonel Reb.
