Cochran Statement on White House Healthcare Summit

Summit Exposed Extensive Problems with Existing Reform Bills, Cochran Urges Fresh Start

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement at the conclusion of the Health Care Reform Summit hosted by the White House:

"I think the summit showed the American people that there are many unresolved problems with the comprehensive health care reform plans supported by President Obama and Democrats in the House and Senate.  I hope today's long discussion brings us back to the table for a fresh start on this issue, with a focus on controlling costs and improving health care delivery.  I think it would be ill-advised by the Democratic leaders in Congress to use the summit as a pretext for forcing any of the flawed health care reform bills through the Senate."
