Southaven Awarded Hazard Mitigation Grant
Mayor Greg Davis announced that the City of Southaven has been awarded a hazard mitigation grant in the amount of $2,097,504 from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This grant will be utilized to mitigate flood conditions in and around the Autumn Woods subdivision in Southaven. ?> “This is a tremendous award for a project that we have been working on for some time now,” stated Mayor Davis. “I truly appreciate FEMA and MEMA recognizing the need and the importance of this mitigation project.”The City of Southaven is responsible for providing a local cost share of $110,394 for the project. “Southaven will contribute some five percent local funds to this nearly $2.1 million project,” stated Davis. “Clearly this represents a tremendous return on our local money and I am pleased that once again we were successful in leveraging our local funds to this extent with the assistance of a grant for a much needed project.” |
