OBPD Detectives Make Charges in Locker Room Theft at the YMCA?>
August 24, 2010
Olive Branch Police Department detectives obtained warrants today for Burglary and Grand Larceny against Christopher P. Jones, 45, and Aaron J. Hodges, 22, both of Memphis, in the theft from a locker at the Olive Branch YMCA that occurred on May 14. A 46-year-old victim reported on that date that the lock had been removed from his locker while he was working out. His Bulova watch, $400 in cash and his bank debit card were taken in the theft. The suspects had already charged approximately $800 in merchandise on the victim's card before it could be cancelled. Neither of the suspects are believed to be members of the YMCA. The suspects would come into the front waiting area and wait until the desk employees were distracted and then proceed to the locker room. The suspects carried a small pair of bolt cutters concealed on them to cut the lock off the locker. The pair are being held in the Shelby County Jail on charges of breaking into lockers at various gyms in Memphis. They may face additional charges in Olive Branch for other YMCA locker thefts as the investigation continues. We want to thank the Memphis Police Department for their help in this case. Detective Craig Dickson and Officer Mark Ayers are the lead investigators for OBPD on the case.
