OBPD Crime Watch Notes Reported Friday, Aug. 27

13137 - False Pretense - 9800 Block of Dogwood Ct. East - 8:52 a.m.

A 44-year-old victim reported that she saw a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4-x-4 for sale on Craigslist for $2,900.  The seller directed her to do the transaction for purchase through Ebay Motors.  She followed the seller's direction as how to do the transaction and wired the money through Western Union. She stated that she hasn’t received the vehicle.  She contacted EBay Motors, who informed her that they show no transactions for her and that they believe she was scammed.  The money was wired to Oxford, England.

13154 - Burglary of Occupied Dwelling - 7300 Block of Wisteria Dr. - 11:59 a.m.

An 18-year-old female reported that a white male in his 20’s had been inside the residence and had run out the back door.  The victim stated that she left home at 8:30 a.m. and returned home around 11:40 a.m. Her garage door was open, evidently left open by another family member who left home after she did.  She was at home for about 20 minutes when she heard a noise coming from the hall bathroom.  She said she went to the hall and turned on the light and a white male came rushing out at her.  He grabbed her and she began punching him in the face.  She stated that he then threw her to the ground and grabbed her shirt.  After a struggle the suspect then ran out the back door in an unknown direction.  She described the white male as in his 20’s, approximately six feet tall and wearing a blue shirt with no sleeves, black gloves and a hat.

13177 - Assault and Felony Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer – Hwy. 78 @ Craft Rd. - 3:37 p.m.

An OBPD officer on patrol observed a small tan passenger car (possible late 90's or early 2000 model Cavalier) parked on the shoulder of westbound Highway 78 at Craft Road. As he passed the vehicle he saw a black male subject sitting in the driver’s seat with a black female passenger across his lap. The unidentified female was being held in the driver’s seat and her face was bleeding. She appeared to be in severe distress as the driver was holding the female. The suspect fled in the vehicle with the female into Memphis at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck another citizen's vehicle, causing minor damage, at Hwy. 78 and Holmes Rd., and kept going.  Officers lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Perkins and Winchester.

OBPD officers also made arrests for Suspended Driver’s License (seven), Domestic Violence (two) and Driving Under the Influence 1st (one).
