Florence Man Arrested for Possession of Child Porn?>
August 13, 2010
Jackson--A Florence resident has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, Attorney General Jim Hood announced today. Dwight Brinson, 47, of Florence, was arrested this morning by investigators with the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), assisted by investigators with the Florence and Richland police departments which are both ICAC affiliates. "I would like to thank all involved in this arrest and let it be known that crimes against children will not be tolerated in the City of Florence or in the state of Mississippi," said Chief Richard Thomas of the Florence Police Department. "Thanks to Attorney General Jim Hood and everyone involved in this case. Together we can make a difference." "Thanks to Chief Thomas in Florence and Chief James in Richland and their investigators for the great work on this case and on this task force," said Hood. "With efforts like this, we're going to keep exposing those who threaten the safety of our children." Brinson was booked into the Florence jail on two counts of possession of child pornography. Judge Ken Fairley in Rankin County Justice Court set bond at $50,000 per count ($100,000 total). If convicted he faces up to 80 years behind bars. As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. |
