For The Observer

On Monday, Nov. 9, the Olive Branch High School DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) chapter celebrated its 11th installation ceremony. An abundance of parents and other DECA members showed their love and appreciation by attending.

The night began by the officer team walking into the Olive Branch High School Commons, where the formal procedure was held. DECA senior Samantha Purvis did a welcome followed by the Pledge of Allegiance by ToRon Suggs, DECA junior.

The DECA Creed was presented by juniors Jelisa Armstead, Victoria Gross, Grahame Pegram and Jon Waldon. After that DECA advisor Clayton Marble shared his 11 years with working with DECA and OBHS students with us.

Next, Mrs. Killough,  assistant OBHS principal, installed the officers which consisted of Ross Bratton IV, Vicki Knepper, Hunter Johnson, Josh Carpenter, Whitney Walls, Kristen Heath, Isaac Owens, Tiesha Tunstall and Amber Mosby.

Ross Bratton, DECA president and a DECA senior, installed the new DECA members and Mrs. Killough said a few closing remarks.

Overall the night was a complete success and we had fun while doing it. Everyone was all smiles and we all bonded together.

In the words of Mr. Marble, “At the beginning of the year we started out as three separate DECA classes and as we do more things together we become a DECA chapter.”
