The deadline for Northwest Mississippi Community College’s third annual Art Scholarship Competition Exhibition and Awards Reception is fast approaching, according to Lawayne House, chairman of the art department.

All artworks should be neatly matted or framed, labeled with name, address and phone number on the back of each piece, and delivered to the art gallery on the Senatobia campus, care of Lawayne House, office 201, anytime Jan. 18-22, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. An awards reception to announce the winners will be held on Monday, Jan. 25, from 6-8 p.m.

The exhibition will be held on Jan. 25-29 in the gallery. Tuition scholarships to Northwest will be given to four winners. House and instructors Ashley Chavis and Eunika Rogers will judge portfolios of original art consisting of at least 10 works of art in any medium and sizes.

The competition is open to all incoming freshman, according to House.

“This competition is open to anyone interested in pursuing an art degree, whether they be a high school student, or an adult interested in returning to school,” House said.

All media is accepted and will be juried by the Northwest art faculty.
