Faculty and Staff Honored at Northwest's Opening Day Faculty Meeting

Northwest Mississippi Community College faculty returned to the Senatobia campus on Monday, Aug. 9, to attend the opening day faculty meeting.

During the meeting, new faculty on all three campuses was announced and awards were presented.

Nursing Instructor Dianne Scott of Olive Branch was presented with the Sandy Grisham Excellence in Teaching Award. The award is given annually and is voted on by the academic dean and division directors.

Scott has worked at Northwest for 21 years. Prior to Northwest, she worked at Baptist Health Systems for 17 years.

According to Sybil Canon, executive director of the Northwest Foundation, Institutional Grants and Special Projects, Scott embraces technology and encourages creativity in the faculty who teach with her.

“She teaches with love and corrects her students with a stern, yet gentle hand,” said Canon. Other award given during the meeting included the Faculty Customer Service Award to Dr. Stacy Jones of Senatobia, science division director, and the Staff Customer Service Award to Kitt Albritton Brand of Hernando, CTE support services coordinator at DeSoto Center.
