Northwest Mississippi Community College will offer several non-credit classes in February and March, according to Patricia Lowder, coordinator of Continuing Education.

Upholstery 101 will be offered Saturdays, Feb. 27 – April 10, from 9 - 11 a.m., in the Art Building, Room 205 on the Senatobia campus. The deadline to register for this class is Thursday, Feb. 25.

In this class, which is taught by Gloria Singleton, students will learn the basics of upholstery—the skills, materials, tools and tricks of the trade. The first class consists of discussing fabrics, tools and supplies needed for projects.

Students will be required to bring a small piece of furniture to work on. They will learn how to cut fabric, how to attach it to the furniture and attach trim. The fee for this class is $130 plus fabric and supplies.

A Landscaping Workshop will be held on Saturday, March 6, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., in the Workforce Development Center, ABE classroom on the Senatobia campus. Workshop instructors, Roy and Joanna MacCutcheon, have a combined 40 years experience in horticulture and landscape design.

Participants will learn everything they need to know to design and complete their home landscape project. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch, a minimum of six photos of the area they want to landscape, a pen and paper and any questions they have about plants, design, pest control, and landscape.

The fee for this workshop is $50, and the deadline to register is Wednesday, March 3.
