Auditions for Northwest’s Fall Musical Scheduled?>
August 11, 2010
By Brittany Greer For The Observer
Auditions for Northwest Mississippi Community College’s fall musical, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” will be held on Aug. 23-24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus, according to Sadie Shannon, director of the play and Northwest speech and theatre instructor. Participants are asked to prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre selection. A prepared 45-60 second monologue in the style of the show is suggested. Short selections will be available for participants to read if nothing has been prepared. There are parts available for six characters — two or three women and three or four men. The character list includes Charlie Brown, tenor; Sally Brown, soprano; Lucy Van Pelt, mezzo-soprano; Linus Van Pelt, baritone/tenor; Schroeder, tenor; and Snoopy, wide range. “Because there are only six roles in this show, all roles are substantial,” said Shannon. “Yes, it is a musical, and participants will have to sing. All are welcome to audition.” "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip "Peanuts." Performance dates for the musical are Wednesday, Oct. 27, and Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29-30, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m., in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Senatobia campus.
