HELPNOW! at the Public Library

Do you sometimes have difficulty helping your child with their homework?? Has it been far too many years since you multiplied fractions or conjugated a verb or had to remember what exactly happened at Gettysburg and why that is important to us today???

Well, the First Regional Library has an "answer" for you: HelpNow! is an on-line tutoring service available to children in grades 3-12 from 3-10 p.m. seven days a week (except major holidays).

Step 1: make sure your child has a library card from the First Regional Library (and make note of the four-digit PIN number);

Step 2: have your child log onto the Public Library's website: www.firstregional.org;

Step 3: instruct your child to click onto the box that reads HelpNow!

Step 4: have your child key in the library card number and PIN as requested.

Step 5: have your child tell the program what grade they are in and what subject they need help with;

Step 6: watch in amazement as the program finds your child a qualified tutor in that subject who will thereafter begin an Instant Messaging "conversation" with your child;

Step 7: smile broadly as your child gets the help they need;

Step 8: say "you're welcome," as you are a Qualified Instant Hero! Thanks, First Regional Library!

HelpNow! is being offered by the Public Library thanks to a $15,000 Federal Library Services and Technology Act grant administered  through the Mississippi Library Commission.
