![]() | Memphis - Methodist South Hospital associate and Hernando resident Carol Holmes was recently recognized as a Miracle in Motion award recipient during the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH) quarterly management meeting.?> Holmes, an enterostomal therapist in nursing wound care, had an appointment with a patient in the Wound Healing Center of the Medical Office Complex. When she arrived to the appointment she was only met by the sister of the patient and not the actual patient. The patient’s sister told Carol that her sibling was too weak to walk the three blocks to the office complex after the tiring bus ride they took to get to the appointment. Carol immediately accompanied the sister to the bus stop so that she could meet with the patient under a shady tree. She brought the patient some sample ostomy supplies, described their usage, and gave the patient an 800 number to call for more supplies. This type of exceptional patient care made her a “shade tree educator” and demonstrates her true commitment to patient’s needs. “Carol’s actions are a shining example of a true ‘Miracle in Motion’ winner,” stated Daphne Brown, Methodist South Hospital human resource manager. “We are proud to have her on the Methodist South Hospital team.” Each quarter, MLH associates, patients or family members nominate individuals for the Miracle in Motion awards. Miracle in Motion recipients are eligible for the annual Inspiration award which is given at the end of the year. (Courtesy photo) |
