Olive Branch Students Enjoy Trip to New York City
Special to The Observer
Olive Branch DECA Seniors take on New York! During the week of Dec. 2-6, Olive Branch High School Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) chapter members took part in the annual New York Experience Trip in New York City. Their time in New York was divided between sightseeing, conferences and shopping. Eight chapter members joined in the NYE. They included OBHS chapter president Ross Bratton vice-president Vicki Knepper, treasurer Josh Carpenter, historian Kristen Heath, and senior representative Isaac Owens, along with OBHS seniors Clint Reeves, Samantha Purvis and Christina Tarver. Some of the magnificent sights they enjoyed were the Broadway show, “Wicked,” the top of the Rockefeller Center , NBC Studios and Madame Toussand’s. They had dinner in the famous Times Square and visited Radio City Music Hall for a Christmas Special by the Rockettes. Other places visited were China Town, Ground Zero and Planet Hollywood. The group also went ice skating in Central Park and ate at the ESPN Zone. All of the seniors unanimously agree they loved the New York Experience trip. “I liked it a lot,” Heath said. “We were always doing something fun and it was a great experience. It’s something I’ll remember forever.” Bratton commented that “New York was great. I got to see so many things I would’ve never gotten to see if I didn’t go. There was a lot to do and I didn’t want to leave. It’s basically a great experience and a good opportunity that you just can’t pass up if you get the chance to go.” After all the excitement in New York the group returned to in Olive Branch -- a place not quite so exciting, but it’s home. |
